Claire A. Mode, 75, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst, with her son, the Rev. Daniel L. Mode, officiating. Burial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

The family will receive friends at Boles Funeral Home, 35 Parker Lane, Pinehurst, N.C. from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008.

A resident of Pinehurst since 1985, Mrs. Mode was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

"She was a world traveler and a devoted mother," said a family member.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mode, and two sons, Terrence Mode and Stephen Mode.

Mrs. Mode is survived by her sons, Kevin Mode, of Japan, and the Rev. Daniel L. Mode, of Arlington, Va.; three grandchildren, Michael Mode, Kristen Mode and Holly Mode; three brothers, Thomas Browske, William Browske and Ralph Browski; and two sisters, Delores Baginski and Mary Jane Goglin, all of Cleveland, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Father Capodanno Cause, Archdiocese of the Military, 5203 Pumphrey Drive, Fairfax, VA 22032

Claire A. Mode, mother of Fr. Daniel Mode, former pastor at Queen of Apostles, died on March 13, 2008 in Southern Pines, NC.  She was a resident of Pinehurst, NC since 1985.  The funeral was on March 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst.

A memorial Mass will be held at Queen of Apostles on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 10:30 am. Fr. Mode is expected to celebrate the Mass. 

Pope John Paul II Council has been asked for and will provide cut flowers for table decorations in Hannon Hall.  A Coffee and Danish reception will follow the 10:30 am Holy Mass.  Fr. Mode will leave the reception at 12:15 pm to go to the Burial service at Arlington National Cemetery scheduled for 1:00 pm.

Jim Kemble and others will probably car pool to Arlington National Cemetery from Hannon Hall for the burial.

After the burial, a dinner reception will be held at Hannon Hall beginning at 2:30 pm. Several groups at Queen of Apostles are organizing the dinner.

We hope to have a good presence of Knights at the memorial Mass on March 27.
